The Eastlake Neighbourhood in the Town of Oakville

When considering Oakville real estate, south east Oakville is home to some of the most exceptional  luxury homes for sale in Canada. South East Oakville is made up of two main areas, Eastlake and Old Oakville. Those of us who live here in Oakville refer to Eastlake as either Morrison or Ford. The Eastlake neighbourhood in Oakville is made up of two neighbourhoods, Morrison and Ford. 

The Morrison neighbourhood is east of Chartwell Rd, west of Maple Grove Dive, south of the Queen Elizabeth Parkway and all the way south of Lakeshore Rd to Lake Ontario. The Morrison neighbourhood is filled with towering 200 year old trees as it was at one point owned by Sheridan Nurseries who sold it to developers and found less expensive land up in Georgetown to grow their trees and plants.

The Morrison neighbourhood has become quite popular for people to build custom built homes because of the appealing lot sizes. The Morrison neighbourhood is one of the only Oakville neighbourhoods to feature 100 x 200 ft lots that are often tree lined creating instant privacy. There is a nice mix of modern homes, traditional homes, and transitional style homes. Some of the very well known architects who are prolific in this neighbourhood are David Small, Bill Hicks, and John Willmott to name a few (there’s plenty more).

The Morrison neighbourhood is also within walking distance to downtown Oakville which is known for its fine dining and quality stores. When potential buyers search for luxury real estate listings in the town of Oakville the Morrison neighbourhood has some of the most desirable Oakville homes for sale.

The Ford neighbourhood used to be a less expensive alternative to buying a house in the Morrison neighbourhood and to some extent that is still true today but the lines are becoming a little more blurred in this regard. 

There have been a large number of newly built custom luxury homes that have been built in the Ford neighbourhood. There is also a nice mix of original homes from the 1960’s and the 1980’s in addition to all the newer custom built homes. Most of the older homes in Ford have had extensive renovations and/or remodels (many times with the help of renowned architects and high quality builders such as Whitehall Homes and Bachly Construction).

The schools in Eastlake are a big part of the lure of the neighbourhood. The Oakville Trafalgar High School for example consistently ranks among the top 3 public high schools in Ontario. E.J. James Public School goes from grade 2 to grade 8 and is also very highly rated with only 432 students across all grades students are sure to get the attention they need. 

If private schools are of more interest to you there is no shortage of choices with St. Mildred’s Lightbourn School and Linbrook but to name a couple.
